3 - Clean from Every Sin
I John 1
7. But if we are living in the light of God's presence, just as Christ does,
then we have wonderful fellowship and joy with each other, and the blood of
Jesus his Son cleanses us from every sin.
LB
Sin not only impairs our relationship with each other, but it also impairs our
relationship with God. He cannot tolerate sin in His presence.
That is why Jesus came to the earth as a human being. First, He came as a man
so that He could face all the temptations we do, and overcome them without
giving in to them.
Second, He came to die and shed His blood on the cross, so that we could be
cleansed from sin.
This would allow us access into God's presence, so we could have a meaningful
relationship with God. God wants this relationship with us, and we need this
relationship with Him. The blood of Jesus takes away the impediment of sin
and makes this closeness possible.
But the blood of Jesus goes even further. This blood does not just cleanse our
sin at the beginning, when we come into this relationship with the Lord.
This verse really means that, as we continue living in the light of God's
presence, the blood of the Lord Jesus, is continually cleansing us from sin,
so we can continually remain related to God in a true sense, without fear of
continually offending His Holiness.
Praise God!
Prayer:
Father, thank You that the blood of the Lord Jesus, not only cleanses us
from sin once, but all through our lives, as we live in the light of Your
presence, His blood is continually cleansing us from every sin.
Thank You, Lord Jesus for making this privilege possible,
Amen.
